
Hwang-Long Pan 潘皇龍
Biography
PAN Hwang-Long (Huang-Long, born 1945) is a composer. He was born in Nantou, Taiwan and graduated from Taipei Teachers College, National Taiwan Normal University and Zurich University of the Arts(Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, ZHdK). He studied twentieth-century composition at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover and the Hochschula der Künste Berlin. In 1982, Pan returned to Taiwan and held a position as the Dean of Student Affairs, as well as the Dean of the School of Music at Taipei National University of the Arts. Pan also served as president of the International Society for Contemporary Music(ISCM). He was the winner of the Foerderpreis des Juergen Ponto Kompositions Wettbewerbs, the Wu San-Lien Award and the National Cultural and Arts Award. His main compositions include chance music series of Labyrinth Promenade, series of East and West(1998-2017), and 5 Bei-Guan Concertos(2005-2019).
